Baudry-Dutour Sauvignon, Le Petit Rouilly, Val de Loire

Most wines in the Val de Loire are negociant wines. What makes the Baudry-Dutour Sauvignon different is that it comes from single vineyard estate fruit in a highly desirable location. The vineyard, in the “Rouilly” lieu-dit, lays claim to the best-exposed calcareous and clay soils in the Ligré, a highly sought after location just south of the Vienne River, adjacent from Chinon.   Chalky soils impart minerality reminiscent of Sancerre.  Dutour farms all of his vineyards sustainably and stays true to his goal: respect the harvest, environment, and reveal the rich subtleties of the terroir. The result is a fresh, citrus-driven, aromatic, and pure Sauvignon.
