Esther Mobley's Pick!
What's "the best way to welcome spring"?
According to Esther Mobley, it's by drinking Peter Mathis Rosé.
In Wednesday's San Francisco Chronicle, Mobley profiles Peter Mathis Rosé de Grenache 2019 as her "wine of the week".
With her signature flair for tasting notes, Mobley calls it "inviting, fresh [with] mouthwatering, tangy notes that remind me of cantaloupe, orange zest and those tiny wild strawberries that always feel extra-packed with flavor... a lovely wine... a textbook example of the classic Provencal style."
Mobley goes on to say how Peter does it: he's a perfectionist, and his Rosé isn't an afterthought but a dedicated pursuit for which wines are specifically grown, harvested, crushed, vinified, aged and bottled.
The fact that Peter Mathis Rosé de Grenache is an estate wine, grown in volcanic soils on sun-drenched slopes well-suited to Cabernet Sauvignon, makes it all the more special.
It's a lot of wine for $22.50 retail.
Esther loves it and I think you will too.
